According to my research: yes. I have both Bérard and Berrar ancestors. The Bérards were born between 1700 and 1785, their descendants (born between 1819 and 1910) spelled their name Berrar.

They all lived in Bisten, Überherrn and Fremersdorf. Those three villages belonged to Lorraine until 1815. Since then, they have been in the Prussian/German district of Saarlouis.

My 5th cousin 3 times removed was a Peter Berrar who emigrated to the United States in 1900, when he was 10 years old. He is also my 7th cousin 3 times removed, my 10th cousin 3 times removed, and my 9th cousin 3 times removed.
