Herman Bernier 79
LIMESTONE and CARIBOUMaine - Herman Bernier, 79, passed away Thursday, April 15, 2010, at his residence. He was born July 29, 1930, in Caswell, the son of Francis and Virginia (Curless) Bernier. Herman grew up in Caswell and attended local schools. He married Prudence Peterson Sept. 14, 1961, and they had 48 happy years of marriage together. In the early years, Herman worked for small contractors and went on to work in bridge construction. From 1966 to 1991 he worked as a civilian in the motor pool for the Air Force. Herman was a communicant of St. Louis Catholic Church, Limestone, and a third degree in the Knights of Columbus. Herman also enjoyed watching harness racing. He is survived by his wife, Prudence of Caribou; a son, Frederick Bernier of South Portland; a sister, Lucille Bell of Limestone; five brothers, Simon Bernier and his girlfriend, Beatrice Spinney, of Limestone, Mitchell Bernier and his wife, Gaetane, of Limestone, Vince Bernier and his wife, Kathy, of Fort Fairfield and Pompano Beach, Fla., Conrad Bernier and his wife, Louise, of Pittsfield, Mass., and Stewart Bernier and his wife, Rowena, of Weatogue, Conn.; a sister-in-law, Jean Bernier of Limestone; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Linda Cross and Geraldine Bricknell; and a brother, James Bernier. Friends may call 4-6 p.m. Sunday, April 18, at Lancaster-Morgan Funeral Home, 11 Clover St., Caribou, where funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Jean-Paul Labrie officiating. After the service, a luncheon will be held in the reception area at the funeral home. Interment will take place at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery after the reception.
