My Beswick family appears to have originated from Hampshire. What I know was originally obtained from entries in an old family bible:

George Beswick b. 7 May 1757 married Elizabeth b. 10 Sept 1759

Six children recorded:

Sarah Beswick b. 24 Feb 1784
Elizabeth Beswick b. 15 Mar 1786
Eliza Beswick b. 12 June 1787
George Beswick b. 5 Dec 1790
Samuel Beswick b. 24 July 1795 (my great great grandfather)
Patty Beswick b. 22 June 1797

Fifth child Samuel m (1) Elizabeth Bright 23 March 1814 at Alverstoke

Samuel and Elizabeth had 11 children from Eliza (b. 12 June 1814) to Matilda (b. 15 March 1834).
Elizabeth died 26 June 1845 and then Samuel remarried (2) Caroline Hands (my great great grandmother), and went on to have 7 more children from Samuel (b. 8 November 1846) to Joseph (b. 18 Aug 1860).

From census returns for the Beswicks, all in London, I discovered that Samuel (b. July 1795), was born in Southampton. His death certificate shows he died on 13 Sept 1874. I have looked at the IGI at for Beswicks born in Hampshire, and this shows 2 or 3 of Georgeís childrenís christenings in Southampton.

I havenít been able to take things any further, as I donít live near enough to Hampshire to start looking through parish registers, but that would be the next logical step to pursue this line further. Does any of this tally with your information?

Thanks for getting in touch
