I have been reading with great interest the information regarding the Betancourt family in Puerto Rico. My grandfather is Julio Castillo-Betancourt, born September of 1922.

His mother was Sixta Betancourt, she was raised in Sabana Hoyos in Arecibo and after her marriage to Damaso Castillo, lived in Factor, Arecibo.

Unfortunately, my grandfather does not remember his mother's parents and information regarding the Betancourt line of the family, for me ends with Sixta.

He remembers his mother died in January of 1939 from child bearing complications. His father Damaso died a few days afterwards. Sixta and Damaso had several children (all were Castillo Betancourt. These would have been my grandfather's brothers and sisters. Guillermo, Jose, Juan, Cristina, Genoeva, Damaso, Francisca "known as Panchita", and others.

Given the fact that they lived in Arecibo, specifically as a farm-hand in Factor, Garochales, and other areas of Arecibo, I think there may be a family connection.

Any information you may have would be invaluable.

thank you-- Denise Velazquez-Marrero.
