I have no idea how the seller got ahold of your family artifacts. There are a few of us who ocasionally go through the e-bay auctions hoping to alert people that family papers, photos, journals, etc are going up for bid so they can try to obtain them. It saddens me to see such genealogy with important dates and facts lost forever in the hands of a non-relative.
If I were you, I'd go back to my orignal posting of this auction, click on the link and ask the seller who the buyer was, describng your relationship to the artiact.
