According to my records, William Bethany Sr was born in South Carolina 1730-1740, dying in Kershaw County, South Carolina in December, 1813. His son, Jacob Bethany (died prior to 15 April 1831 in Perry County, Alabama was the father of Thomas N Bethany, born 6 April 1806 in Kershaw County, South Carolina, died 15 July 1883 in Kemper County, Mississippi. Thomas N Bethany married Elizabeth Heard (Hurd, Herd?), 12 March 1810-August 1888. One of their children was William R Bethany, born ca 1831 in Perry County Alabama. He died ca 1882 in Kemper County, Mississippi ca 1882. William Rufus married Ophelia Mars who was born abvout 1840. One of the children of William R Bethany was William Thomas Bethany (18 August 1872, Kemper County, Mississippi-6 September 1938, Decatur, Alabama). William Thomas married Susan Ann Ridout (20 March 1874, Neshoba County, Mississippi-20 February 1958, Tuscaloosa, Alabama. One of the six children of William Thomas and Susan Ann was Gladys Bethany (21 September 1904, Neshoba County, Mississippi-27 January 1972, Hartselle, Alabama. Gladys Bethany married Leonard A Hagans on 19 January 1920 in Decatur, Alabama. Gladys Bethany was my mother.
