Lineage, Austin County, TX Bethanys

Hello everyone! Well, now I am really confused. Upon a very recent trip to Austin County, Texas, I was handed the lineage of my Great Grandmother Isabelle Bethany Clemons. I need some input to help straighten this out. So here it goes.

Isabelle Bethany
b.2 July 1857, Nelsonville, Austin County, TX
m. 1874 to Ira Augustine Clemons
d. 6 May 1947, Hempstead,Texas.

Her father was:

James W. Bethany
b.4 April 1824 in Alabama (confirmed on gravestone)
m. to Mary Adeline Woods
d. 26 August 1889, Nelsonville,Austin County, Texas
burial: Bethany Cemetery, Austin County, Texas

His father was: (Now here is where things changed on me.)

William W. Bethany, he married Jane Bethany, she was born about 1796 and died 26 August 1856. Her father was:

Thomas Bethany
b. 6 Feb 1777,South Carolina(date and p.o.b. confirmed from gravestone)
m. (1)Ann Henry, 28 Feb 1795 and (2) Rebecca Terry
d. 6 April 1869
burial: Bethany Cemetery, Austin County, TX

His father was William Bethany SR.
He died Dec 1813 in Kershaw County, SC (isnt this the same date as the death of his brother, Jacob in Alabama?)

His parents were Jacob Bethany and Hillica Dortch

So my question really should be, was Jane Bethany the daughter of Thomas Bethany? or was William W his son? or were Jane and William related? I think my drift is easy to catch. And then there is the ever present, who was the wife of William Bethany,SR.?

Am seeking input from all knowledgable folk.

Thank you, John Julian
