Hi, I am descended from Charles H. Bethany through his daughter, Martha Jane, from his third marriage to Martha Angeline Pierce. I am in contact with other descendents of Charles and have pooled our efforts in trying to find his parents and sibs.

I agree that the name Bethany could be derived from Bethune. I did a little research on the name Bethune recently and learned that it originated in France, but some of them emigrated to Scotland then to America. The changes could be a result of the time spent in Scotland, or when they arrived in America. I intend to do more research in this area.

I also agree that posting our lines and information may help all of us clear up a few mysteries. I am afraid that the volume of info that I have on Charles H.'s descendents may be too large for this forum. I will try to trim it down to the bare necessities and post that soon.
