Hi Coop, What kind of proof do they have and who has it? If this is true, then we have some real puzzles to sort out. I feel that it is the same Charles H. that married both Deliliah Couch and Margaret Williams. I also still believe that Margaret's maiden name is Couch, although I have not found a record of her marriage to Mr. Williams. However, she had a 5 year old son when she married Charles Bethany named William A. Williams, b. 1838 in NC. My great-aunt wrote down a family history in about 1985 and said that her grandfather (Charles Bethany) had been married three times. She said his first wife died shortly after they married and had no children, then he married her sister, Margaret. After several children and moving to Benton Co., TN, the second wife died and he married Martha Pierce. What I have found in the records so far fits the scenario she gave, except that I cannot find Margaret's marriage to Mr. Williams. There is a marriage of a Margaret Couch to a Mr. Ellison in Lincoln Co., TN. This may disprove the second wife, sister of the first wife theory, but I would like to find some documentation of who Margaret really is before I dismiss it. There are several Couch families in the area and it could be a different Margaret. And I would like to see some documentation on the existence of another Charles H. I've had a hard enough time finding where one came from, much less two of them. Just some of my thoughts on things.
