Hi Jean, Thanks for replying. This is what I have on Mary--there are a lot of discrepancies.

Mary A. Bethany b: Aug 10, 1819 in NC or (S.C.)?
m: 1) Wiley C. Newman Sep 3,1838 (19 yrs old)
Wiley died Sept 3, 1842
children:1. Moses Henderson Newman or (Moses C.R.)b.8/27/1839
2. Martin Wiley Newman or (W.B.) b. May 6 1841 in Fayetteville Lincoln Co., TN

m: 2) Stephen S. Lewis on Aug. 23, 1855 or Aug. 22, 1857? in Dekalb Co. Al.
***Note: We have the Aug.23rd,1855 date but the Alabama marriage index of 1800-1920 has the date as Aug. 22 1857 in Dekalb Co. Al. Also note that James Tate Lewis was born on Feb. 23, 1855 in Jackson Co. Alabama;(before parents were married!) (James Tate also married in Alabama and several of his children were born there. The first child of his that I have listed born in Newton Co.Ar. is my grandfather Charles Ervin Lewis b. 1892). Jackson Van b. June 2 1858 (don't know where) and Mary Medory Jane b. March 23, 1860 in Arkansas. Looks like the families may have gone back and forth between Alabama and Arkansas?

Mary d: Nov. 12 1859? before Mary Medory was born? We have the dates of both Stephen and Mary's death dates the same. It may be that it was Stephen that died and not Mary. She would have been 40 years old.

Also a child of James Tate Lewis was named Moses Adrian Henderson Lewis. Most of the facts that I have are from a family Bible. I copied them many years ago. A cousin has it now and will try to check with her to see if I have the facts right. Mary is on my grandfathers side and the Bible is from my grandmothers side, so the facts might not be perfect-- Linda
