Starting Sept. 30, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum
message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles
will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will
no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.
Thank you for your reply. I do believe that there is a likely family connection here. These families moved from Bibb County, Alabama, and relocated to Holmes County, Mississippi, shortly before 1840. Please note that there is a small community by the name of "Beatty" in southeast Carroll County, Mississippi, which is located in the same general area where these families first settled near both the Attala and Holmes County lines which intersect with southeast Carroll County. This early settlement area is located between Durant (Holmes County) and Vaiden (Carroll County). Where is Sarah Jane Betty (1834-1892) buried? I noticed another GenForum post which states that a J.W. Switzer married a Sarah Motes on July 29, 1877, in nearby Leflore County, Mississippi. Possible connection? Another posting says that a Sarah J. (b. abt. 1834 in AL) and husband James M. Switzer (b. abt. 1832 in IN) had a daughter Alice (b. abt. 1855), a daughter Rosa (b. abt. 1866), and a Marion Bennett (b. abt. 1850), all born in Mississippi. They are reportedly listed in the 1870 Coal Creek, Montgomery County, Indiana Census. I will contact you offline for further discussion. Good to hear from you!
