Michael,
It has been some time, but I hope you are still active in the genealogy.I have been doing some research on George Bick. The British website GenesReunited.com and the Mormon website Familysearch.org have been very helpful. It appears that Maria Shewell married Robert Savory in Gloucester 1851. They had a daughter Rosina in 1858 in Tewkesbury and then he died in the same city in June of 1859. Maria married George on Oct. 3, 1859.From Mormon records, Maria's father was named Henry.I doubt if Maria and George had any more children. They are in the 1871 census but he left in 1872 for the U. S.A Maria Bick was in each census up through 1911. There is some indication that she may have been born in Painswick.A Maria Bick died in 1916 in Cheltenham. Not any indication that he brought them with him in 1872.He was remarried by 1875 to an Irish widow who had one child. They then had four more. I called my 85 year old cousin and she hadn't ever heard of him being married in Gloucester before either. So he may have left Maria and Rosina and for that reason didn't tell the new American family. If he were a widower, we would be more apt to know about it.But maybe there is a divorce record somewhere.
Have a good holiday season,
Larry
