Have you looked in TX?Frances Mayfield and Seaborn Bickerstaff moved to TX and was there in time for the 1850 census.If Gabriel was having troubles, as Cliff's finding indicate, it is more than probable he went to TX either with family or alone.
The Lore for this part of the state in those days was that officers of the court simply wrote : GTT on court warrants, papers, etc.
Meaning that the person had "Gone To Texas" to avoid the law and that no other action would be taken.
Good luck and let me know if trip over any of Frances' and Seaborn's children.Was Benjamin "Blackie" Bickerstaff, out rebel fame after the Civil War a son to Frances and Seaborn?
