Bickerstaff of NC and Biggerstaff of VA
It is said that John Bickerstaff of Rowan Co., NC is the son of William Biggerstaff of Hampshire Co., VA., and that this said John, was born 1720 at sea.Is there any prove of this?
In the will of William Biggerstaff, Sr. dated 22 Mar 1802, Proved 1803, Hampshire Co., VA. William mentions his dec'd son John and that all the land intended for him and they having disposed of the same at their pleasure, have consequently no further claim on my estate.William Biggerstaff (John's son) my grandson, having sold his part of said land to John Hartly and John (John's son) Biggerstaff, my grandson having sold his part of said land to my son Samuel Biggerstaff.I have a copy of this will.
I next found the grandsons, William and John, in Washington Co., Ohio in 1800.
Children of William Biggerstaff, Sr.

Now if this John Biggerstaff was the same John Bickerstaff that was in NC, who is the John Bickerstaff that was still in NC while the John born at sea was in VA??
