My friend's name was Julia. She was the daughter of Jan and Anna Biernat. Jan became known as John Bernart and this presented more trouble than you can imagine with trying to find records of these people, especially with spelling variations of the name Bernart. Where I found the most help was through the various church records found in the Berlin area of Wisconsin. Julia married William Oscar Gibbs. This is how I come into the picture as I am related my way of my maternal lineage to the Gibbs family.
