Joy, I would like to see the records in Monroe Co. Tn. that say the Payne famiy are Cherokee indian. I have not found any records to that effect as of yet. My grandmother who is a grand daughter of Benjamin Franklin Payne always told us (her grandchildren) that she was 3/4 or 1/2 Cherokee indian. My mother remembers hearing Nancy Cantrell(mamaw) and Homer Goodwin(papaw) talk about the trail of tears when she was just a little girl. Thanks for any and all help! Your Cherokee blood Ronnie Sellers.
