Please note that Bigler is also a common name in Switzerland and that during the 18th and 19th century quite a number of Swiss emigrated to Russia and Poland. The Swiss name Bigler is most probalby derived from the place of origin named Biglen in the Emmental region or Bigel near Hasle in the Emmental.
One reason for the emigration was the law of succession during this period of time: only the oldest son inherited the families property. Therefore, the younger sons hat to look for other possibilities.
