Dear Susan:
Sorry for the delay; I haven't looked in the Forum for awhile (obviously).I have copied my notes for Phoebe Overpack Biller. She never carried the name Billet, and only married once - late in life.As you will notice, the name Billet does appear in a number of sources, so it is understandable that this has caused some confusion.

" ... Our grandmother Elizabeth [Magdalene] Ulery married John [Jacob] Biller. They had five children: Mamma [Elizabeth Biller Kline] was the first and Uncle Ulery was the last. The others were Uncle John, Aunt Martha (Mat) and Aunt Mary.Grandmother [Magdalena] died when Uncle Ulery was born. She was only 36 [26] years old.... Grandfather Biller married again.Mamma said that when he brought her stepmother home, she had 3 big loaves of bread under her arm.Mamma said she thought, "Now we are going to have some good homemade bread."She said it was so bad nobody could eat it.She [Elizabeth] made up her mind that she was going to be a good cook. She surely was that.Mamma never mentioned her stepmother's name [***PHEBE OVERPACK].Not long after she and grandfather were married, she caught her heel in the screen door and died of blood poisoning.[NOTE: Phebe died in 1875, after Jacob's death in 1869.]
Mamma said that they had a big brick oven in the yard.Prayer meetings met with them once a month. For a week they were busy baking bread, pies, and cakes for the people. When Mamma was 14 years old [1871], grandfather [probably Uncle George Ulery, the children's guardian, since Jacob died in 1869] sent her to town to go to sewing school. ..."
[COMMENT: According to the [July] 1870 census, Phebe's stepdaughter, Elizabeth, was living with her.Apparently this arrangement did not last long.]
NOTE:Comments in [-] are the edits of Dominique Delphine.
