Thomas Watson Coker, son-in-law of E. Billington

My grandmother was Eula Adlura Coker Griffin, daughter of Lucy Taylor Billington and Thomas Watson Coker. I would like information about him. Was he of Native American heritage? That has been passed down for many generations in our family. I own a copy of his obituary but it doesn't say much about his background just who was married to and that the whole town called him, Uncle Tommy and that he was well-loved. I know he came from Alabama Indian Territory and that my grandmother war raised part of the time there. Any further information would be great.
