I will be visiting Maine in August 2001. Would appreciate help finding records & relatives of g-g-g-g-grandfather's family (William Binford 1755-1827) who came to Flintstone (later Baldwin), Cumberland County, Maine in 1781. Married Dorcas Richardson (1762-1833) in 1780. Children: Jeremiah 1782-1827, William 1784, Dorcas >1784, Samuel 1787, Sally 1788, Abner Rumery 1791, Phoebe Elizabeth 1792 & Mary J. 1798.
Notes I have from earlier work: William Binford served in Revolutionary War. He moved to Flintstone (now Baldwin), Maine in 1781. Land for heirs of soldiers who fought in Narragansett Wars of 1675, who were promised land grants in Maine in addition to wages. Battle where Kingston, RI now stands. Refs: Begats by Mabel Preston Wiggins; Town records of Baldwin, Maine; Binford Supplement
by Mary L. Bruner; Richardson Geneology; Census records of Maine 1800; History of N. Hamp & Maine- Pope; History of N.England & Maine - Savage.
I have not found name of relative of Wm. Binford who fought in Narragnasett Wars. Any help in locating sources of information or relatives living in Maine will be appreciated.
