I have a calendar picture of Sheriff Thomas Abner Binford in June 1934. He was sheriff of Harris County (Houston) from 1918 to 1937. The caption states that he arrested and hanged the last two men to die by public execution in Harris County. He was born on April 5, 1881, and was a cattleman. If you listen carefully to the words of "The Orange Blossom Special" you will hear how he was not to be taken lightly! He died September 16, 1972 in Houston.
