Hi Barb
Many thanks for your message, although I suspect that my Binnies crossed the Atlantic later than yours. If I can explain, my mother's name was Binnie. Her g-grandad left Linlithgow in Scotland with his wife and two sons in the mid-1880s, eventually arriving in Lancashire, England.
At about the same time, his widowed mother Jean Binnie (formerly Smith) emigrated to Canada with two of her daughters. They were apparently following in the footsteps of her son, Thomas Binnie, but it is not clear if they found him or not. The families eventually settles in Otter Tail Creek, MN.
I was unaware of this until I was contacted by a descendant now living in Portland, OR. There is more information on my website at http://www.gravelbank.co.uk/binnie.home.htmlhttp://www.gravelbank.co.uk/binnie.home.html You can contact me privately from there if it looks of interest. Ian
