I have a Margaret Birchall (b1809- ) who married Joseph Downall in St Oswald's Winwick in 1832.

Does the ring any bells? (jingle or otherwise??)

You might like to look at www.billinge-history.com.

From memeory I think Birchall is mentioned there.
