Yes we have been in touch before and I like you am getting back into the whole genealogy thing after some what of an absence.

Apparently, there were two John Birchall's that were deported from the UK to Tasmania. See Andy Birchalls website for further information at: I have supplied him with information on my John and that is where I discovered there wre in fact two convict Birchalls deported.

My John was deported in 1802 and married Susannah Bellett on 24 October 1809. She was the daughter of ex-convict, Jacob Bellett, a First Fleeter from Norfolk Island, in Hobart. They had at least nine children between 1812 and 1828.
