I was in touch with Bill about almost two years ago. Maybe it would be good to touch bases once again with him. I'd appreciate any info you might stumble across.
My mother, Sarah Birchall, was with her three sisters, British Home Children (BHC), sent by Quarrier Orphan Homes of Scotland to Canada after their father died at 33 yrs as a result of an accident. My mother was 7 yrs old when she arrived in Canada in 1908, but she was one of the fortunate ones who was NOT abused by her masters. She was indentured as a Domestic until age 18. Her sisters were aged 10, 9, and 8.
I did have a little info sent to me from the 1851 Census for Liverpool. Henry would have been about 8 or 9 years old at the time of the census. The entries were taken from an index published in 60 volumes (415,000 entries), by the Liverpool & S.W. Lancs FHS covering Piece Numbers HO 107/2176 to HO 107/2193. Ages were not indexed, so it was dificult to determine; however, these were the only two entries that include "Henry" as a potentially young child. The LDS Call NO's are:
Piece No. HO 107/2180/2 - LDS 087179
Piece NO. HO 107/2185/1 - LDS 087190
My problem is I'm about a six hour drive away from a very small LDS FHC facility and therefore I haven't been able to check the films. I hope one day to be able to!!
Thanks for any help.
