Cheasquanah Bird
This is crazy, but I was going through some rejected application to the Eastern Band of Cherokees of my family of Hambys. It took me awhile to decipher what one of the words were on the applications. They kept saying that their grandfather was Gabriel Hudson (Hutson) who was 1/2 Cherokee of the Cheasquahas Tribe. That Cheasquahas word was the one I had trouble with, but that was what I ended up with. My question is it possible that Gabriel Hudson who was born about 1770 could have been from the Cherokee Tribe of Cheasquana?.It just seemed strange to me that these applications were made out in 1908 when the Government was going to give applicants who had enrolled descendants money, and that my family came up with this name. I can't tell you anything about Gabril Hudson except that my 3rd grandfather Joseph Hudson names him as his father. Joseph himself says he is 1/4 Cherokee and was born in the Pee Dee river area. Joseph marries an Elizabeth Trivett and they are living in Rowan County, North Carolina. Then he moves on to Wilkes County, N.C.. Just trying to put pieces of a puzzle together.
