Thomas,
Apparently there were two Horace Birdsalls. I finally tracked mine down and he WAS NOT the one in Lockport, NY that worked as a hatmaker. My Horace was a farmer who spent his life in Greene and died about 1850. He is buried in the North Fenton cemetery near his home. His father was one of the many Henry Birdsalls that lived in NY State in the early 1800s.This particular Birdsall family signed their names with an 'X', and did not venture far from the Birdsall family compound which was located on the boarder of Broome and Chenango County. The compound was actually in Chenango County so they did most of their legal business in that county but they associated with and married into families from Broome County. There was a prominent family of Birdsalls in the Village of Greene but I can not find any real connection (legal, documented or in newsprint form).George Birdsall's book "The Birdsall Family" lists this Henry's family as being a brother to the Birdsalls in the Village of Greene but there is nothing that I can find that verifies that connection. If you have anything that can verify George's listing I would sure like to know about it.
THis has been a delima to me.Take care,Wally Tomosky
