I too am looking for Burketts abroad. I have traced my lineage back to John burkett who fought with Col. Francis Marian the "Swamp Fox" in the Revolutionary war. that is as far as I have been able to get,my later ancestors migrated from South Carolina to South Georgia sometime prior to the War Between The States (sometimes know as the Civil War). We prkonounce our name BURkett not BurKETT. I understand that we pronounce it as it is pronounced in England. Please let me know if this is correct.
