I only know what i've seen elsewhere in this forum, of Lord Birkett. You're referring to Norman Birkett of Ulverston, who was eminent in the Nuremburg Trials, following the war.
There is sure to be stuff on the net about him. Would suggest using something like Google search facility.
If you think you have family from Northumberland, and can give me a clue, (names/places/approx dataes), i'd be pleased to help.
