Carroll Blackard, son of Levi?, served in the Florida Indian War, enlisting at Lauderdale County, Alabama in May of 1836 according to his wife's (Sarah Hamm) Claim of Widow For Bounty Land, in Sept of 1893. She was then in Brown County, Texas.
He served as a private under James Baxton in a Ala regiment commanded by J. Acklen, for 90 days. She gives a description of him at enlistment: about 47 years old, a farmer born in Ala, about 6 foot, hair black, eyes gray, dark complexion. She further states that she married him at Hamburg, in the County of Hardin, TN on Sept 26,1844. She states that Carroll Blackard died on November 3, 1877. She further states she had lived in Texas since 1882.
Would like to hear from others researching Carroll and his siblings: John, Willoughby and Elizabeth Ann?.
