Shawn, I have been doing genealogy on John and Mary Ann (Annie)(Counce) Blackard. Mary Ann was a sister of my ggrandfather, James Claborne Counce. John and Mary were in Lauderdale County, Al. in 1850 census, when her fathers estate was settled in 1866 in Hardin Ct., Tn.,it said she was a resident of Arkansas.John and Mary had the following children: (Some of my information came from Charles Blackard through Ron Alexander)
1: William Carroll B: 1840, Tn. Married Rhoda Nelson March 31, 1863.
2: Thomas H. b: 1841 married Sarah Jane Sanders April 2,1863, Sevier County, Arkansa
3: Milton Blackard B:1846, Tn.
4:John Riley Blackard B: February 17, 1850 Tn. died either Ar. or Ok. He married (1)Mary S. Nelson on November 28, 1870. He married (2)Emma Boone May 9, 1895 in Sebastain Ct. Arkansas. (3)Mary A. ? on marriage certficate listed as a Mrs. Campbell,October 15, 1896, Sebastain Ct.(4) hemarried unknown (1896-1898) (5) Frances Jane Herrell Sept.12, 1899, Sebastain Ct. (6) Mary E. Kelley on May 12, 1904 in Pittsburg County, Ok.

4: David F. Blackard B: 1877
5: Melissa A, Blackard B: 1879
6:Thomas Jefferson Blackard Jan. 1882
7: Nancy Bell Blackard B: April 1885
You may not want all this information but your James was a son of John Riley. I have more iformation if you are interested.
