I am a descendant of William and Rachel through their son William and his wife, Elizabeth ALLGOOD, their son Spencer, his son John Wesley, his son James William, and his son Koert C BLACKKETTER. Over the past 12-14 years, I have collected any and all information regarding the Blackketter/Blacketer family. Somewhere (before I learned to document where I found information), I picked up that Thomas Sylvester BLACKETER (b 1858 IN), as well as brother Huston R. and sister Susan, were the children of John BLACKETER (b ca 1827 IN) and Hannah Lane RUSH (b ca 1828 IN). John and Hannah were married 12 Dec 1850 Parke Co., IN. I had always thought that John was the son of James BLACKETER (b 1801 VA) who married (1) 18 Nov 1820 Mercer Co., KY to Susanna HAMILTON; they had two sons and one daughter (possibly Susan Elizabeth BLACKETER who m 24 Nov 1847 Parke Co., IN to John ELLIS). James was married (2)03 Jan 1824 Mercer Co., KY to Phebe ROMINE and they had five known children as listed in Montgomery County Indiana Will Book 1, p 328 …James BLACKETER, wife Phebe and “our children” namely: James, Sarah, Delilah, Houston, and Phebe”. Signed 30 May 1852. Recorded 8 June 1852. Witnesses: John DOOLEY, Samuel STAGGS, and D. JOHNSON. There is a John BLACKETER listed with the family of James BLACKETER in the 1850 Parke County Indiana census, living in the SugarCreek township:

Because of this census record, I have just assumed that John was also a son of James, and that he is the James BLACKETER who married Hannah Lane RUSH.
Alexander BLACKETER, the son of William BLACKKETTER and Elizabeth ALLGOOD did have a son, John Henry BLACKETER who was born 23 Apr 1826 in Bartholomew Co., IN. John Henry is listed with his parents and siblings in the 1850 Bartholomew County Indiana census:

Most of this family shows up in Putnam County Missouri by 1860. I do not have any further information regarding John Henry BLACKETER, the son of Alexander BLACKETER and Hannah REAP.
I am not wishing to confuse the issue, but do you have documentation regarding the parents of John BLACKETER, the father of Thomas Sylvester BLACKETER?
