Vincent Blacketer(44) and Lucinda Stewart(32) show seven children in the 1850 census for Mercer Co, KY. Rachel(11), Burrel(18),James(13), David(9), Addison(7), George(4), Allen(1.5). Age in parentheses from census(approximate only).
My notes list two additional children William b. 1852 and Stewart b. 1849. Stewart and Allen may be one in the same.
Vincent was the son of Henry Blacketer and Olivia Lockman. They were married in 5/29/1806 in Mercer Co. I show Vincent 1806-1873. Henry and Olive supposedly had eight children. I know of Margaret, Elizabeth, Vincent, Rachel, Jeremiah and William. I suspect another child was Henry but I don't have proof, at this point. This Henry would fit with my line.
Henry, father of Vincent was the son of William Blacketer and Rachel (maiden name unknown). They settled in Mecklenburg Co, VA and raised eleven children. Earliest record I've seen is 1744. No one has been able to document the family -back beyond this point in time. I emphasize the word "document" because there are a lot of claims. The children moved to KY 1800-1810, possibly some earlier.
I believe but cannot prove that this line is connected to the well known Blackadder Line in Scotland. This family dates back to about 1200 and was involved in the politics and battles of the aristocracy. Our William may have come from England as there is a large settlement with our spelling there. This group is also expected to be connected to the Blackadder Line - but still no proof.
