I have record of a Norman BLACKETER, born 15 Dec 1820/25 in Mercer Co., KY, the probable son of David BLACKETER and Mary F. "Polly" COX of Mecklenburg Co., VA. He married (1) 19 Sep 1847 in Parke Co., IN to Winney PHIPPS; they had three children: David (1848-1852), Elizabeth (23 Feb 1850-23 Apr 1850), and Mary (b 27 Mar 1851 Sugarcreek Twp., Parke Co., IN, d 25 Aug 1921). Norman married (2) 06 Jul 1854 Parke Co., IN to Elizabeth Catherine WELCH CREGER, a widow with at least two children: Zachariah and Sarah. Norman and Elizabeth had four children: George (b 23 Feb 1856, d bfr 1860), Harriet (b 09 Jun 1858), Norman (b 11 Aug 1860, d 24 Oct 1932) who married 15 Sep 1881 Fountain Co., IN to Elizabeth ABERNATHY, and Ellen C. BLACKETER (b 23 Feb 1863). Norman died in a hospital in Indianapolis shortly after enlisting in the army during the Civil War. Norman is listed in the 1850 Parke Co., IN census with wife Winney and son David. He is listed in the 1860 Parke Co., IN census with wife Elizabeth, children, Zachariah, Sarah, Polly, and Harriet; also included in his household is Mary, age 90, born in Virginia -- his mother?
