I've created some maps of the UK using the mapping tool at <http://www.wykes.org/dist/>. Using the 1881 UK Census I extracted all the Blackmores and uploaded the data to this site to create four maps.
You can find the maps on the Origin page of Blackmore Site. <http://www.geocities.com/blackmoresite/>.
What these maps appear to suggest is that virtually all Blackmore's originate from the Devon area. Note how the distribution maps, which compare the count of Blackmores in a county to that counties entire population, show that the largest consentration is in Devon and the shading tapers off the further you travel from Devon.
