John and Alice Blackmore in Australia
Posted by: Jack Earnshaw (ID *****5875) Date: September 18, 2005 at 07:22:28
  of 1003

I have just discovered that my ggg uncle John Blackmore and his wife Alice (nee Handford) emigrated to Australia in 1849 on the ship Courier. Apparently they settled in Ballarat and had a goldmine called Lorna Doone (what else!).

John was baptised in Burrington, Devon in 1824 and Alice was baptised in Bishops Tawton, Devon in 1829. They married in Fremington, Devon in Feb 1849.

Does anyone have any information on their descendants, or know how I can search for it - I've only researched in UK and USA before

Jack
