JAMES BLACKMORE b.1789/1790 Monmouth/West Buckland/Bristol

Help needed, please.

James Blackmore was born about 1789/1790 in Monmouth according to the 1851 Census. He married a Jane and had five daughters - Jane born 1828, Mary Ann (Alice) b.1830, Louisa b. 1832/1833, Emma b.1836 and Elizabeth b. 1837. In 1841 and 1851 censuses the family are living in the Christchurch area of Bristol.

Emma married a Charles Theodore Paxton and later, I believe, a John Gwynne Hughes. Mary Ann married a Thomas Burghe, a tailor, in 1850 and went to live in London. Louisa lived with William Parker but never married.

I have spent decades trying to trace James birth and parent details but have had no luck. He is listed on a marriage certificate in 1850 as a Coachman and later censuses as a Porter.

I have had no success in finding any James born in Monmouth around that time but I have however, found a James born 1790 in West Buckland, Somerset. James` great grandson was sent to West Buckland School in Devon along with subsequent generations and I wonder if that was based on family talk of West Buckland and confusion occurred about which West Buckland. A very tenuous connection, I know.

Can anybody help? I was told, way back in the 1970`s that he was buried in the old Bristol cemetery but records of that time were accidentally lost in a fire. Frustrating?

Do you know of a James born in 1790 in Monmouth or can you tie my James into your family tree with the West Buckland connection.
