In case it is of interest to anyone, there is a portrait of Mr. R. D. Blackmore posted on deadfred.com:
This portrait of Mr. Richard Doddridge Blackmore appears on page 207 of The Canadian Horticulturist, vol.23, no.5, May 1900. There is a nice memorial to him on pages 207-208 of that volume. See that reference for more details.
Blackmore was born 7 June 1825 and died 20 January 1900. He lived in Teddinton, Middlesex, England. He was a novelist and a horticulturist. One of his more famous works was "Lorna Doone." There are many websites containing additional information on him. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Doddridge_Blackmore).
That is all the information I have on him. I am not researching this line, just saw the photo and thought I'd post it.
