Blackwelder Source Records
I have updated the source records on my Blackwelder web site http://www.geocities.com/~arslanm/blackwelder/blackwelder.htmlhttp://www.geocities.com/~arslanm/blackwelder/blackwelder.html .
These include abstracts of Blackwelders in many primary source records, including county vital records (births, deaths, marriages), deeds, cemetery listings, tax lists, voter registration, church records, newspaper obituaries, guardian bonds, etc. Most of the records abstracted so far are from counties in North Carolina, but some other states are represented, as well.
Within each entry in the abstracts, I have tried to identify where the particular Blackwelder individual fits into the family of John Blackwelder and Elisabetha Maushardt (the subjects of the Blackwelder web site). The descendant ID (e.g., #52C242) is a "pointer" to the descendant listings on the web site. See the description of my numbering system.
The source files are in Adobe Acrobat format. They can be viewed with the free Adobe Acrobat view (V4 or later).
I am soliciting help in gathering more Blackwelder primary source material (from the original records). Please send me what you have, referencing the original source of the material. I will add it to my web site.
The Blackwelder web site also includes USA census listings from 1790 to 1920 showing Blackwelder descendants in each of the states.
Most of my research so far has been in North Carolina (because I live near the state archives in Raleigh), but I am also very interested in Blackwelders outside of North Carolina. I believe that most of the Blackwelders in the USA are descended from John Blackwelder and Elisabetha Maushardt.
