Lisa, How wonderful to hear from you! Someone "on site". ;)
Frances Blagrave is my great-greatgrandmother... she is also Barbara's great-greatgrandmother (see post before mine on this thread)... Barbara & I share the same greatgrandparents, Robert & Susie Ellis.
I have quite a bit of information on Frances, her marriage to Charles J. Ellis, and their two sons. Her oldest son is my greatgrandfather.
Frances seems to be surrounded in a bit of mystery. I want to say that someone (my aunt?) has told me there was a scandal and Frances had to leave her parents.... maybe even use a different name? Or maybe it was her mother that was involved in scandal?
Frances' parentage is the big question, so we've been looking for a record of her birth, and we've been told it was somewhere in Indiana. Barbara's husband, Carl, has found an Arthur Blagrave (along with a long ancestry back to England) that COULD be Frances' father, but we have yet to prove that.
So, we're really looking for proof of Frances' birth & parentage.
What follows is all the information I have. It's long... I hope doesn't get cut off in this little window!
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks in advance,

Frances A. BLAGRAVE, daughter of Arthur L. BLAGRAVE and Cassandra,
was >>>>>born on Jun 13, 1850 in Ireland, Dubois, Indiana<<<<<, died on Apr
4, 1918 in Chicago, Cook, Illinois at age 67, and was buried on

to read old-time handwriting. I am sure it is a 'z' and not a 'g'. And of course
her name is listed as 'Frances A. Ellis'.
The death certificate says Arthur was born in America, and lists 'unknown' as
her mother's maiden name and birthplace. hmmm...? Like, not even a first
name is listed! (I also note that he misspelled unknown: 'unkown' so maybe
we should not place too much significance on the way he wrote Arthur's
