I checked the Newark city directories from 1865 to the 1930s last week, enumerating the Blaich family, and did not find a Rachel or a Fredericka. The Blaiches interred at Fairmount Cemetery in Newark are Frederick, 1826-1879; his wife, Marie, 1842-1926; their son, Ferdinand C., 1860-1886; and his wife, Emma L., 1867-1940; Ferdinand, 1884-1946; and Minnie, 1898-1980. The first Blaich in Newark apparently was J. Frederick, a jeweler, 1826-1879. His children were Charles J., Ferdinand (above), Lillie, and Emil John. The only Blaiches whose estate papers are filed in the Newark surrogate court vault are the above-cited Ferdinand (died 1946) and Minnie, whose relationship to the others I cannot yet determine. Catherine Margaret Blaich, daughter of Charles J. Blaich, was my grandmother.
