Hi Tena! I know how you feel. I would suggest that you look at the 1851, 1861, 1871 census records of the correct county in NS. BLAIKIE is a very rare name, so you should be able to find your family, even though only the first name of the head of the house is given, until 1871, when your ggmother would be 21 & maybe married & gone. Also I suggest that you search the 1920 census of Providence, RI & work back thru 1910, 1900 etc. til you come to her emigration era. Many times a person's aged parent(s) will be living with them. Did they emigrate with your ggmother? Also, how about tracking down her naturalization papers? And her marriage record; these should have the names of her parents on them. Hope you live near a place where you can search census records. Go to your nearest Family History Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They are open to the public at no charge except for supplies & film rentals, & they would be able to help you. I am searching the Blackie family of Nova Scotia. Maybe same as Blaikie. Please email me if you'd like to discuss further. Good luck!
