Hi Martha! Thanks for the info - every little detail can turn into a good clue! Christina's middle name, Stewart, is not a name that parents pull out of a hat to give to a girl baby in 1850! It's probably a family name belonging to her mother, or a grandparent. Maybe next week I'll be going to the NA (Nat'l Archives) again, or the week after. Will let you know what I find.
In the meanwhile, if you think of any other detail that I don't have, please forward it. A couple more questions: did any other members of the family (parents, siblings, etc.) emigrate with the Grants, or before or after? to Providence? And what are the names of the Grant children? (in the order of their births, please.) No other birthdates are needed.
