Alexander Cameron was born around 1727 in Loch Broom, Scotland. He; his wife, Janet Ross; and two of their children immigrated to Nova Scotia September 15, 1773, aboard the HECTOR.

Their daughter, Lillias Cameron, was born October 22, 1781, in Loch Broom, Pictou County, Nova Scotia. She married William (Blacky) Blaikie and one of their sons was Alexander Cameron Blaikie. He was born October 04, 1804, in Durham, Pictou County, Nova Scotia.

He was a founder of the First Presbyterian Church in Boston, Massachusetts and was a preacher in active service for nearly 60 years.

He married Nancy King on July 9, 1839 and remained married for nearly 50 years until his death on December 31, 1885.
