Blake Family Genealogy Forum

Thank you for writing. I have a hard copy of the 1850 census for Itawamba County, MS. My Sarah Blake is married to D.P. Nelson (married that same year), and her age is listed as 17 in 1850, and she lists an Alabama birthplace. (She tends to stay in that same age group on census records after that.) If that age is correct, she couldn't have married in 1837 as she would have been a small child at the time. On the 1850 census I mentioned, she and husband are "right down the road" from a Randolph Blake (age 25 in 1850; born Alabama) and Samuel P. Blake (age 51 in 1850; born NC). In either 1860 or 1870 (don't have it before me now), all of these Blakes and Nelsons are in Arkansas. I probably have learned some of this "stuff" since I wrote the posting you saw. Do you think it's the same family as yours--different branch--or not??
