Martha Mullins was second wife of Granville Smallwood. Mother to Mary Ann was Mary. Granville's middle initial according to grave site and census records was L. (But as you and I both know well, people changed names like hats in those days.)

Martha had two children when she married Granville. The copy of census record that I saw made reading the last name impossible, but one was named William M. and the other named Edmond. (1880 Census)

If middle initial was indeed L. then he may have used his middle name when he lived in Illinois. As I found a Leander Blake there with wife Mary and child Mary A whose age matches Mary Ann Blake.

If William M. (N.) Smallwood was related to Cheif Benjamin, then I can find no record, and I have discussed this with several of chief Benjamin's descendents. It is quite possible that we are from an entirely different branch of Smallwoods. Some of Emily Emma Smallwood's (Rose Ella's sister)children and grandchildren live in Sequoyah County, OK.
