I'm looking for ANY info on Levi Blake, place of birth, parents, etc. He enlisted in the Union army, 1862 in Brattleboro, Vt. Possibly was married to Mary Freelove of Castleton, Vt (dau of Barnaby and Catherine{Eaton?}Freelove).
When did he and Mary wed? Where? When did Mary die?
Family tale says that Levi deserted (do have record of this, 1863), went "out West" to "live with the Indians." He came back east to Somerset, Niagara County, NY, met up with son George, about 20 years later. Married another Mary (don't know her maiden name), and had another daughter, Ida, who married a Houseman.
