Peter, Thank you for your message.
I have visited the Staffordshire (Gnosall Parish) and Leicestershire (Great Bowden Parish) but not yet the Derbyshire Record office. The result of my searches in Gnosall have already been posted on this genforum site, search under my surname and you will find it. I also thought I had posted the Great Bowden searches but cannot find the posting so I have pasted them below.I also put a request for any information regarding Adam Blakeman in the Derbyshire, the Leicestershire and the Midlands (Staffordshire)Family History Society monthly magazines but without any success
Leicestershire Record Office 2009
Below is a report of my visit to the Leicestershire Record Office in the United Kingdom on the 21st October 2009
By consulting the Bowden Magna (Great) Parish section of “History and Antiquities of the County of Leicestershire” by John Nichols, Vol 2, Part 2, Page 475 I confirmed that the Parish Church had Rectors until 1559 then only Curates in charge from that date. The following Curates were noted:
• 1622Richard Fowler
• 1624Adam Blakeman
• 1628Philip Lenerith
Great Bowden Parish is situated right next to the Northamptonshire County border on the south eastern side of Leicestershire. Adjacent Leicestershire parishes are, Market Harborough, Lubenham, Foxton, Church Langton and Thorpe Langton.A search of the microfiches of the above parish register was carried out with the following results
Great Bowden Parish Records
Baptisms (searched 1617 to 1628)
• John Blakman the son of Adam Blakman baptized the 10th April. This entry was the last in 1624 before the Curate, Adam Blakeman’s and the Churchwarden’s signatures confirming the accuracy of that years entries. I have a photocopy of the register entry. However the entry is misplaced as it should have been the first in 1625.
• Joseph the son of Adam Blakman baptized August 18th 1627
• James Blakman soone of Adam Blakeman baptized December 14th 1628
Adam Blakeman signs the Baptism register entries in 1624, 1625, 1626 and 1627 as Minister. The 1628 register is signed by Phillip Lenerith
Weddings (searched 1617 to 1629)
No Blakeman entries
Burials (searched 1617 to 1631)
No Blakeman entries
Adam Blakeman signs Burials register as Minister from 1624 to 1627/8.The last entry in 1627/8 was on the 6th April.
Adjacent Parish Register Searches
No Blakeman entries were found for any of the following searches:
Market Harborough: Marriages 1617-1624
Christenings 1628-1631
Thorpe Langton: Marriages 1617-1624
Christenings & Burials 1628-1631
Foxton Registers only start in 1653
Lubenham Marriages, Baptisms & Burials 1617-1631
Church Langton Registers only from 1775
Little Bowden Registers only from 1653
Other Searches
• Checked Instance Court Records 1623-1628 Ref: 1D41/11/62 using names index. These records are for relatively minor cases that are brought before the Ecclesiastical Court. No Blakeman listed
• Checked Clerical Names Index. No Blakeman listed
• Checked general names index for articles written concerning Adam Blakeman. No references found
Record Office staff could not suggest any other documents or indexes to search
Conclusions
1) Adam Blakeman was already married by the time he arrived in Great Bowden. His wife's maiden name is therefore not known.
2) He arrived at Great Bowden sometime between April 1623 and the end of March 1624 (using modern calendar years) and was still in Great Bowden on 6th April 1628 but had left before the end of March 1629
3) Three of his children John, Joseph and James were born in Great Bowden
4) Although Joseph is stated in a number of texts not to have survived to adulthood there is no record of his burial at Great Bowden
5) All likely documents at Leicestershire Record Office have been search.

It is not known when and on what ship Adam Blakeman went to New England although it is assumed to be around 1638 based on when he first appears in New England records.Detailed records of the names of the people who went to New England are only kept/have survived upto July 1635 for departures from the Port of London and similar dates but fewer records for Southampton and Ipswich. After this date the number of emigrants was so great that only the number of persons on each ship was recorded not their individual names. For detailed information Google the following old book which one can download:
