Blakeneys in the UK

My great grandfather was Joseph Henry Blakeney of Gateshead in Northumbria, in the North East of England. I do not know his DOB but he had 4 children, the youngest of whom (my grandfather) was born in 1902. Joseph Blakeney fought in (& had a medal from) the Boer War but curiously also had a medal from WW2.

My Grandfather's name was William Henry Blakeney. He had a brother called James & two sisters, names forgotten, both of whom emigrated to New Zealand.

If anyone knows any more about this branch of the family (UK or NZ ends) I'd be keen to hear. You can mail me on or my father John Blakeney on (he checks his mails more often than me).
