Sarah, I hope this message reaches you as your Gen Forum inquiry is several months old.

My grandmother was a Blakeney ( Margaret). She was born in Cumbria , NW England in 1877. The family immigrated to Ottawa Canada in the 1880's. Her father was Henry Blakeney and he had a brother named Joseph born Sept. 1st 1846 in Cleator Moor, Cumbria. He moved from there to Tyne. Their father was Samuel and their mother was Jane Thompson. I am in contact with some of Joseph"s descendents who live in Newcastle on Tyne. Possibly he was the father of your Joseph. I have more information if this seems helpful. Pat Fuller
